It has never been treaded before, COVID-19 road but of course imagined by creative minds for those who’ve watched the film Contagion. The film gives account of everything we are experiencing today, you wonder if we should now go back to watching all movies that seemed too far away from our real work – like overthinking; and begin to play the scenarios lest we find ourselves in such situations again! I think we should probably try that. For now, let’s discuss the current situation.
Over the last few weeks, we have the world’s largest population under mandatory or forced work from home directive. Who would have thought about such a thing? The only people allowed to work are the ones offering “essential services”. We know these roles have been critical to our survival and should be grateful.
But the more I thought about it while confined at home, the more I wondered if you’ve been able to ask yourself – whether an employee or employer, if consumers of your service or product would consider it as “essential”?
Three questions you should be asking yourself right now:
- If what I offered my customers has been considered valuable, it is still going to remain so post COVID-19? We are going to see a drastic shift in careers and industries impacting either positively or negatively
- How do I redefine myself to be able to adjust quickly post COVID-19? Deep reflecting is essential at this time of isolation. Begin to ask yourself whether there’s a possibility of finding yourself suddenly carried away by the COVID-19 tide to extinction
- Are there emerging opportunities that I could explore that could actually emerge as essential post COVID-19? Some opportunities are being presented from integration of technology to logistical support. Dig in deeper into the mine, gems are down underground.
Let’s take time right now to rethink, re-evaluate and re-plan by taking at least sometime to ponder on these questions. You might be surprised that this could actually turn out to be just what makes your world a better place.
